9. Aiding and abetting the enemy during war is not a smart move

Lincoln shut down dozens of newspapers during the civil war and suspended the writ of habeas corpus, jailing thousands of opponents. To be fair, it is my understanding the confederacy did the same.

There was also censorship and were arrests during WWII.

When in a war, emergency powers will likely be put in place. The number one goal is to win the war. Debate about the war is a low priority.
