Mainly because every Aviation Ordnanceman in the USMC (including myself) didn't pick that as their first choice for their MOS. Most of us wanted to be in crash fire rescue. I assume it's because if we're crazy enough to want to be around 1000+F flames, then we can handle working within close proximity of several hundred tons of explosives. Not to mention all the drinking and fornicating (not all of it straight) going on during the weekend.
