5. Book recommendation to fill in the FBI side of things: Classified Woman by Sibel Edmonds

I offer this just to broaden context, and just because I think Americans can never get enough info on their intelligence apparatus.

An FBI translator of Turkish and Farsi, having lived under Middle East dictatorships, Edmonds knows first hand what happens when government operates in secret. She gives a sobering perspective on FBI coverups, a feckless, even secretive Congress, stonewalling judiciary and the national security whistleblowers movement she's trying to solidify. It shows a literal maze of classes of need-to-know systems that compete for power. Her story spans 2000 to this year.
