They have been through this before.

Even if they had surrendered, there would have been a strong resistance and eventually Russia would realize they were too troublesome to try to keep.

I would suggest you peruse the videos of the 2014 revolution at the Maidan. They dug up their pavement to throw at police and militay loyal to Yanukovych. They know how to throw a revolution. They also know how to rebuild.

Face it, Putin stepped in shit up to his eyeballs. It's up to him to declare victory and GTFO, then do what he should have done in the first place, negotiate his lease on Sevastopol harbor in good faith instead of bad.

He did accomplish one good thing for Ukraine. He united the east and west parts of the country against Russia. There is nothing like a common enemy to provoke national unity.
