Republican Lawmakers Are Furious That Jim Jordan Can't Do Anything Right - Farron Balanced [View all]

Republicans in Congress - and even on Fox News - are growing angry at House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan for repeatedly failing to produce anything of value from his "Weaponization" hearings. So far, Jordan has held multiple hearings where he ended up looking like a fool, and his witnesses have all had their credibility shot down both by the public and by Democrats in Congress. Farron Cousins explains why things are likely only going to get worse for Jordan as the hearings continue.

House judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, has now held multiple hearings with his weaponization of the federal government topic this past week. Of course, it was all about Twitter. And uh, prior to that, as I discussed early last week, he got hammered because he brought in three so-called whistleblowers with the fbi. It turns out two of 'em were being paid by one of Donald Trump's closest allies and advisors, Kash Patel. And they had all been found to be spreading conspiracy theories about both the FBI and January 6th on their social media. So he lost all credibility earlier in the week, tried to regain it with this Twitter hearing where he brought in Taibbi and Shellenberger and thought, oh boy, here we go. We're gonna show the government was, was influenced in Twitter. And then both he and his witnesses looked like total and complete idiots. They looked smug, they looked stupid.

And of course the Democrats beat the hell out of them, even Democrats who were, you know, pretty crappy Democrats still got in some good one-liners on these individuals, but most importantly, there weren't any bombshells. There weren't any bombshells in the hearing with the three so-called whistleblowers who all turned out to, you know, basically be not actually whistleblowers. There's no bombshells in the Twitter hearing. There's been no bombshells and conservatives, both in Congress and in Fox News and other conservative media outlets are getting at Jim Jordan cuz he's given them squat. Since taking over the house Judiciary Committee, let me read this.

A person familiar with the committee's operations told the Washington Post quote, there is a feeling right now that this will simply be a Fox News clip generator. This, this really needs to be a comprehensive, well-resourced examination of the security state. It can't be a way for members to get three to five minute hits on the Sean Hannity show if, if they want this to be real. It has to be done right. It's according to somebody close to the Judiciary Committee. Like, yeah, this probably play well on Fox News. But in, in terms of doing anything, like, no, we got nothing. Jesse Waters on Fox News, by the way, earlier in the week had gone out there and said, why, why, why haven't we had any bombshells yet? Like we haven't had anything from any of the Republican house hearings. So Jim Jordan's taken heat from Republicans, not only for having the worst witnesses imaginable, that basically undermine his whole point. He's getting attacked by Fox News for not coming up with anything in his hearing or in any of the other hearings. And I can go ahead and tell you why all of this is happening, which by the way is actually why I supported most of these investigations cuz it's embarrassing Republicans because they're looking for things that they all know don't exist.

They did engage in what Trump likes to call other things a witch hunt. They knew going into these things we got nothing. But maybe, maybe if we dig deep enough, maybe we can find something. Maybe we can find that one line, maybe we can find that one witness who's gonna corroborate any of this. Cuz all we need is the one thing and then we've got it. It will make all of our other claims appear to be true. And they don't have it. They've been looking, they've been digging, they've been talking, they've been doing everything under the sun and nothing has proven any of the points that they hope to make. And even Fox News is calling them out for it. The best part, Jordan's hearings are probably going to get worse. Like he was supposed to start with the Blockbusters and then you kind of go through the menial stuff as it goes on. And if the blockbusters were this bad for Jim Jordan, I have to imagine the rest of the hearings are gonna make him look even dumber.
