They are too cowardly to stand up to Trump because the monster (Trump's base) will turn on them. For all the complaints about Trump being persecuted, that is all just posturing to keep his base in their corner. They WANT one of these prosecutions to send him to prison so they don't have to take the blow back of taking out Trump themselves.
