and very protective. As far as symbolism goes, the horse is often used to denote the pampered luxury of the rich. Unlike a horse, the lowly donkey is a beast of burden, and like most Dem voters, they work hard with little training, and survive on very little.

I've had both horses and donkeys, and the donkey is a much more fitting icon for Dems than a horse.
