I'd do the credit check thing first with annualcreditreport.com (save/print).

That site tells you who to contact if you see problems.

To freeze your credit you have to notify 3 agencies, Transunion, Equifax & Experian.

I know one of them wants it in writing and I believe one of them will do it over the phone.

I hope this helps as I am no expert either but I do know what a ACH transfer is and credit monitoring that you can do.

If you do the annualcreditreport.com thing now you will be able to see your credit history any recent attempts to open accts. under your name. However, it is not johnny on the spot up-to-date.

Usually it is behind a bit.

I would definitely get rid of that acct. ASAP & open something elsewhere so at least you can still do your banking!
