I had one due to swallowing difficulties and feelings of heartburn. They gave me conscious sedation via IV and I don't remember a thing. First they sprayed some lidocaine or something like that down my throat and that's the last thing I remember. They didn't find a thing, yet the procedure itself was therapeutic and I haven't had any symptoms since. The doc told me that very often the dilation during the procedure is all you need. He was right. I walked out thirty minutes later.
