(10,206 posts)We (there were four of us, now there are two) grew up with Liberal parents (in Texas). The sister who I'm closest with and I are very active and one of the main things we have in commons is our politics. She's eight years older than I am and she's brilliant in terms of what she knows politically. She's like an encyclopedia. Some of my life long/childhood friends are right-wingers. When I'm around them (which is rare because I live in CA and they in TX) we steer clear of politics. I've also unsubscribed from them on FB (which means their comments don't come up on my news feed but they don't know I'm basically disassociated from them). I think it's good that you and your sis have other things in common and you don't want to not have a relationship with her because of this. I'm sorry that you guys can't share something this important...
