(255,843 posts)45. I remember pickle barrels in the grocery store when I was a kid
There was a pair of tongs on top of the barrel and waxed paper bags on the side for your chosen pickle. My brother and I thought this was great fun, we always loved it when my mother let us get pickles to take home. I think they were a quarter.

My favrite is Lime pickles but that doesn't look like the ones I like . My mother made them years

Unfortunately they need to be refrigerated so you will not be able to stock up and drive them home.

Not here either. I drove to the Publix in Boone and they said they were having trouble getting them.

the recipe is a cooked version. says boil 4 min. grandma only brought them to a boil & then off.
