Hallmark stores give a small book-type calendar (will fit in a jacket pocket or purse) for free. You may have to sign up for their rewards card.

Levenger sells a variety of calendars and planners. Their weekly margin calendar for 2018 is on sale now for $4.85. It is convenient for use on a desk because each page covers one week, and it is a long, narrow page (16" wide by 4+" high), so the calendar doesn't cover much prime desktop real estate. They used to sell a similar calendar without dates on them, so you could fill in whatever dates you started with and tear off the pages if you didn't need a record.
