The supposed Madden Jinx can be explained by regression to the mean. They usually put someone on a cover such as SI when they're at there height in the career. When it comes to Madden, the injury rate is high in football so that can explain some of the injuries. Since Calvin Johnson had a career high in touchdowns, receptions, and yards he'll probably get 73 catches, 1,174 yards, and 10 touchdowns. Or he'll continue to play at a 2011 level but if he doesn't, it can easily be explained with regression to the mean.
