My user name is from a joke I heard about the time I signed up and my avatar is because I like Georgia O'Keeffe
The same print is in my living room
Like my dad I was born in Oklahoma - or so the tell me
They also tell me that on a trip from OK to TX to visit the maternal grandparents I met Gen Eisenhower when he was running for President
I grew up in the TX panhandle and went to TX Tech
I moved to Florida where I lived for many years and where I met hubby
We have a 10yr old standard poodle
We moved back to the panhandle in the early 21'st century because Money, er, Mommy Dearest was getting on and needed some watching over
If that sounds crass, then blame that acorn/tree thing
Our house was built in the 20's
I told myself that if I ever moved back here I would get one of those 'charming cottages'
We decided to move and there on the internet was the house (damn)
Small (1200 sq ft) but big enough for us because we are not members of the Rat Pack and so don't host large parties or need to store lots of stuff
Nonetheless it seems a cross between Mouse Hunt and The Money Pit
I joined DU in 2004 but don't post much
I am a cube-rat but am able to enjoy my AM/FM/CD player so can drown out the jabber around me
Could get a more sophisticated system, but choose to not do that right now
At the get-to-know you session at work I was the only one out of about 100 from various departments to say Dr Strangelove was my favorite movie
