(1,821 posts)a year ago exactly.... never did identify although I thought it might have to do with the live oaks ...??? They do flower this time of year - the green tassely things. Or might it have been Spanish moss? That apparently does have a fragrance.
Any ideas?
Places all have a smell but then you get used to it and dont notice.

I remember gettting off the plane in Fairbanks AK - the one and only time Ive been to AK. The incredibly fresh smell that hit me when I got off the plane - it was just amazing and wonderful - reminiscent of snow, ice cold wild rushing Alaskan rivers, vast pine forests....
By the next day, Id gotten used to it. Then returning to hot, humid midwestern US in July- Getting off the plane it was the opposite experience - got hit with moldy, funky lake smell with definite overtones of CAR EXHAUST. YUCK. Almost made me cry.
