1. I found an OK repair kit at Walmart

Not plugging Walmart. That's just where I found it. Four years ago a semi kicked up a stone and it caused a small crack in my windshield. The next day I got the repair kit and applied according to the instructions. I have put on more than 25,000 miles since then and the crack has not spread.

I would start with a quick fix kit and see if that stems the tide for you.
