8. I have a very sweet cat who hates being brushed. I mean she *hates* it.

No matter how I do it or which kind of brush I use, she hates it. And she has fur that mats, so she's a mess unless I can get that loose fur off her. She doesn't mind it when I work the mats loose with my fingers but she hates brushes. All of them. And she goes kind of berserk when I move in her direction with a brush or comb in my hand. She doesn't scratch - she stabs. She brings her paw down hard and pokes holes in me. Getting her into some kind of restraint is as dangerous an effort as brushing. So she gets brushed a little bit at a time and I get perforated. Lately I have found that elbow-length leather rose gloves are helpful, so now I attempt cat grooming looking like I've taken up falconry.
