41. Boy, do I feel your pain.

On Saturday morning I went to the pharmacy and picked up my meds which, because I'm uninsured, are crazy expensive. Then I went to the grocery store to buy bread for the weekend and my debit card was declined. What struck me at the time was that it didn't even surprise or embarrass me much... I'm now apparently used to that regular humiliation. What bothered me is not having bread. It's so damned strange to have a Steinway grand in my living room and diamonds in my jewelry box - all from my past life before my world collapsed - but no bread in the cupboard. Yeah, I should sell the piano the way I've been selling off my jewelry, but to me that seems like complete capitulation i.e. I'd rather die of starvation.

In short, I empathize. I do. (((hugs)))
