Let me vent here, it's friendlier than in GD (my opinion)............. [View all]
okay, I've not been employed for 21 months & haven't worked in 52 months. Discrepancy is that I was injured on the job (broken hip) had numerous surgeries and my employer paid my full salary for 31 months. Even during the time I was off the job I looked for work, and had a few interviews.
Now (21 months ago) after last surgery, and a settlement with my employer, I have been avidly seeking work have probably sent out/applied for over 200 jobs. Out of that I have had 3 phone interviews and 2 physical interviews.
Yesterday's interview was the last straw. It was with a board of 5 people from the organization & get this 2 other applicants were being interviewed at the same time as me with this board. One applicant was running late and we waited 15 minutes for her to appear.
It was a 40 minute interview, I answered succinctly, highlighting my experience and abilities. The phone interview I had for this position was 90 minutes.
This morning I get an email that I wasn't chosen as one of 3 finalists, it further stated that I should be honored that I was chosen for the interview. I'm fucking pissed. One of my fellow interviewees is a full time student, don't know how she is going to work full time also, I know the master's program she's in. The other applicant had no paid or volunteer experience for this job. So if they interviewed 9 people and chose 3 (one from each group) which one of my 3 was chosen? Oh I know, it had to be the one with no experience who knew one of the interviewers (she stated so during the interview).
The position was for a community organizer, which I have 10 years of experience in. WTF is a person supposed to do? I've looked out of state and within. This position was within my community.
I am just so pissed and getting more depressed as the days go by.
