Alda: On a street near Georgetown University (his daughter was a student there at the time).

I saw him and his wife walking hand-in-hand down the street. I was on the other side of the street. Although I'm a fan, I didn't feel right crossing the street and imposing myself on him, so I just took notice and kept going.

Sheen: It was a demonstration in DC. He and his activist friend Mitch Snyder, who were on a hunger strike, walked right in front of me. People were clamoring to say hi to Sheen, so I shook Mitch's hand instead. I did admire him and was bummed when I heard about his suicide.

Garofalo: At an anti-war demonstration in DC. She was going to speak at the rally before the march. I had no idea she was going to be one of the speakers. I saw her just standing around with her assistant waiting to go on, so I walked over and talked with her. She was very nice...I also got a nice photo of us together. I'll post it later if I can find it.
