Dental pain remedies? [View all]

I have a family member who has significant pain after a botched “decoronation” that led to emergency surgery. One of the effects of the mistake is tremendous, recurring pain, probably involving the trigeminal nerve, but I’m not 100% sure about that. Doctors have said “ you’ll have to live with the pain.” Ice or heat do nothing, Motrin-Advil medications offer mild help. Anyone have experience with this type of thing?
