9. Deer Have a special significance for Japanese Buddhists

Since the Buddha gave his first sermon in a deer park. A famous piece, often played as a duet, on the Zen-inspired Japanese end blown Shakuhachi flute is called "Shika no Tohne", or "The Distant Cry of the Deer".
