11. Do you have mint gum or Altoids in the house?

The mint-ier, the better. The gum with flavor crystals works the best. Pack the gum into the broken area. The mint numbs the pain the gum keeps air from getting to the exposed nerve. This is the only thing that worked for me when my mouth was a mess. Sucking on an Altoid, letting it melt right into the break in the tooth, also worked.
