I'm sorry your housemates are such slobs. Perhaps you can call a meeting to discuss your new situation and explain that you'll be needing some help for a while during your recovery.
Something similar happened to a good friend of mine 10 years ago. He's fine now and much healthier than ever before, but it was a difficult transition. My friend had to change his dietary and eating habits, now he avoids red meat and eats mostly fish and lots of fresh vegetables. No more bike-riding, no heavy lifting, and he walks a mile or two every day.
You can do it, and hopefully your housemates will be a little more considerate. Good luck!
