25. I'm so sorry. I'm so fearful my daughter will get it

She is scheduled for surgery on a brain tumor (cerebellum) on Monday. The radiologists and tumor board gave us about 4 possibilities, but it has started to press into the left ventricle... needs to come out now.

COVID and the people who have scorned masks and distancing and caused the surge mean that hospital availability is difficult even for urgent cases.

It means that my 20–year-old daughter will be having brain surgery while my husband and I are not able to sit in the hospital. We’ll be allowed into her room after surgery at alternate times.

She has her COVID test Friday, and we’ve tried to isolate her. But... we’ll see. She ventured out one time with me and the one person at the register was wearing her mask on her chin while a dumbass customer came in with no mask. Both were standing too close even as I kept backing away. I sent her to wait in the car but felt horrible that she could have been exposed.

Knowing you got it while taking precautions — I’m so sorry. Sending you wishes for speedy and smooth recovery.
