In reply to the discussion: BIG house cats... [View all]TheWraith
(24,331 posts)59. Actually, they're great hunters from what I can tell.
I have a cat who clearly has a little Maine Coon ancestry in him--not even close to pure bred, but 12 pounds in size at a year old, and with the typical ear tufts, bottle-brush tail, and huge feet. He's a cuddler and super sweet--he'll climb up into my arms when he feels like nuzzling, and even fall asleep cradled on his back. But he hunts voraciously and will even eat anything that the other cats bring in and drop.

Can you imagine how scary it would be if they were very ornery hunters and were that size?

I had a Maine Coon for 14 years and he was the sweetest, friendliest, most loving cat I ever had.

Gorgeous! I always wanted to have a Maine Coon. I wonder if they like to go on walks with a leash?

Thanks for the story and sorry to hear you lost your loved ones. It's always too soon, IMO.

They are adorable, and growing fast. She was larger than he by a smidge when we got them, but
