(1,839 posts)54. Deciding that drinking and doping is a problem is a personal thing.
Thats why its the first step. Its different for everyone. I stopped using 35 years ago. My attitude towards substances, alcohol being one, is like my attitude towards religion. Im all in favor of people doing what works in their lives. Its very easy to see other people who drink just like you do and use that to justify where youre at. But when it stops working, ask for help. My decision was easy I was an 8AM to 6AM user.

Very sad. Addiction is insidious. Wonderful, beautiful, interesting people have the disease.
