4. A neighbor of my mother had a dozen or so stray/feral cats that lived under her trailer...

... she was a sweet lady, but I avoided visiting her because of the FLEAS that were everywhere in her grass and sand yard. It was impossible to walk to her door without getting a swarm of fleas attacking you. (We used to bring her food and I'd have to drench my legs with Off! mosquito spray... and even that wasn't enough.) I wonder what other diseases they had. But, she kept feeding them, and they kept reproducing and reproducing and hanging out.

After she died, the county animal control captured them all and dispatched them... they were not "pet" material.

Sad.
