Dec 2011

Real name is Greg Okar. Live in Wixom, Michigan. Been here since November 11,2009. Don't post much, but come here everyday. I was a lurker for a long time.
Had a post of mine make it to the "greatest" once, buried deep in the archives, I guess.

Love American and Canadian folk music.
Favorite bands are "Great Lake Swimmers", "Iron & Wine". Check them out great sounds.

I have been absent for a while 'cuz of a few heart attacks then by-pass surgery. Treated by doctors from the V.A. in Ann Arbor, MI.
Best care around, operated on by doctors that if I wasn't in the VA system I couldn't afford to look in their windows. All are doctors at the University of Michigan.

Used to be a small business owner, Carpet and Upholstery, with my wife. Now just waiting to be rejected from SSDI so I can get on with my life. Gone bankrupt, medical bills just too much to handle. Old story, just now with me in the cast of characters.

I have been an activist for all my life. Started by fighting against the Viet Nam war, even while enlisted in the Army. I was a C.O..

I now try to adhere to the buddhist lifestyle. Mindful living.

Love to grow stuff, veggies and herbs mostly. I believe we need to regain our sense of earth. We need to become a sustainable people. One earth, one chance. This is my focal point now. It is a system we can teach, one by one.

Trying to help my community in permaculture. Slow going, but strides are taking place. Teaching others how to grow and be in a union with nature, not competing with it.
