7. cardinals are much more active at feeders in winter where I live

Its southern Illinois don't know where you are. They are territorial so you will usually only get one pair or two at a time. But I have noticed if you feed the sunflower seeds in a big hanging feeder, when it snows all bets are off on territoriality the trees will literally fill with cards waiting their turn I have counted as many as 50 in surrounding branches with snow on the ground.
