NOW they decide to pay attention....

derpy is merely an over-enthusiastic dojikko of epic proportions.

when that whole flap went down, i actually thought about a perfectly good backstory that explains derpy...

basically, she is the daughter of a famous race horse (dad) and cloudcuckoolander mother.... the dad is derby hooves, and he was so certain he was having a son to name derby junior... anyhoo, when he is told that his son is a daughter, he melts down and messes up saying derby so it came out sounding like derpy... derpy gets her strength from dad, and her silliness and dojikko tendancies from her mom...

made sense to me at the time.
