6. Beautiful - hits home!

I've been thinking about this exact question all day ‐ what is faith to an atheist - me? Is there such a thing? Never thought about it like this before, and then to come here and randomly open Redstone's thread! We never know the impact we might have on someone - even after we've died! As he says!

My mother-in-law is in her final days, it seems. She's non-religious, also. Her daughter, husband's sister, the primary caregiver, is a fundamentalist Christian. We all do remarkably well at avoiding controversy, and supporting their mom.

It's been quite a lot of responsibility for sister to bear. We were unable to get over the mountains for Christmas as planned, due to road conditions here in the PNW.

As an atheist humanist pagan, I question whether I am lacking something solid to rely on on at such a time ‐ the faith sister has.

I'm glad for my sister-in-law that she has hers, because I'm sure it helps sustain her.
