11. I Used To Have a Great Hairdresser....

Wonderful girl, I thought of her as one of my daughters. We saw eye to eye on most things and she always got right what I wanted her to do. But....too bad, she and her family moved to another state, about 3 or 4 years ago. Her replacement, who works in the same shop, is, unfortunately, a fundy Christian conservative. I've learned not to schedule appointments when she is alone in the shop, or I'll get an earful of what she's learning in bible study class.

She does a good job of cutting and coloring my hair. Otherwise, I'd "vote with my feet"!

So I keep the conversation on neutral subjects; how's the kids? How was your vacation? How are your pets doing? The last time I was in the shop some other woman commented that she likes Romney, because....He doesn't lie! I swear I nearly came unglued at that, which got me a warning from the owner that she doesn't allow political arguments in her shop! Yeah, especially if her side, the conservatives, are looking like idiots!

I don't socialize with my hairdresser outside of the shop, since we have nothing in common. But I see no reason why it wouldn't work for you. Go with your gut, and see how she feels about that. In this world we can use all the friends we can find!
