36. You triggered a memory. Many years ago -- late 60s

my older sister (then in her late teens) parked the car at the supermarket, and was walking toward the store when she was accosted by an older man (probably younger than I am now). He was screaming that she had parked illegally.

My sister had terrible depth perception, and was embarrassed to think she had parked incorrectly. When she got back to the car she was confused to see it was exactly between the lines. The guy kept screaming that she was illegally parked. He finally told her that she was supposed to straddle the lines, not park between them.

When she politely disagreed, he went into the store and called the cops! For a perceived parking violation in a private parking lot. The police came, looked at the car, listened to him, and then ‘splained (politely, politely) that he was full of shit and shouldn’t waste their time while acting the fool.
