(54,274 posts)My philosophy: Life is like a light switch.
It's turned on when you be.
It turns off when you cease to be.
I admit I have some middle-of-the-night thoughts about 'no longer being'.
I'm 71 so, as you would imagine, I think about this more and more.
And then I think (rationalize) I will no longer 'be', so how can I feel anything after the fact?
Still, It kinda bothers me on a less than rational level.
To not 'be' any more.
Family and friends who want to mark the occasion of my no longer being can do whatever makes them feel better about it. Memorials are for those still being.
Miz t. subscribes to a mainstream church/religious belief.
If she wants a church/religious ceremony, and it makes her feel better about my no longer being, why not?
I don't believe it will matter to me one way or the other.
