(28,295 posts)56. For most of my life, I have thought NO ONE could do "All Along The Watch Tower"
...like Jimi Hendrix. No one. (And HIS version is a cover of Bob Dylan's.) But a few years ago, I heard the recently departed Melanie (Safka), author of the roller skate song we all know and (mostly) detest, do her version of it, and it flat-out KNOCKED my SOCKS off! It was incredible! It was played on satellite radio that one single time, and sadly, I haven't heard it since. And I cannot find it ANYWHERE on the internet!
It's not quite on a par with Hendrix' version, but it's DAMN close! I really wish I could find it and hear it again!
