In reply to the discussion: What's your favorite British TV show, past or present? [View all]CBHagman
(16,997 posts)15. Impossible to pick just one, but...
...I have fond memories of seeing the TV adaptation of Sue Townsend's The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 3/4 and its follow-up series based on The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole. For those who don't know the novels, Townsend explores life from the point of view of a teenage boy in Thatcher's Britain, and she manages to address the most painful subjects (breakups, bullying, etc.) and keep things hilarious at the same time.
I also love the life-affirming romantic comedy As Time Goes By, starring Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer as former lovers who get a second chance to make a life together.

"I'm not dead yet!" -- wasn't that from the Monty Python's "Bring out your dead" segment?
