I was luckier when I was living on $800/month (my PITI was $560), I'd been grandfathered in to the most basic of DSL services and it was pretty cheap, cheap enough to keep if I lived on beans and rice, and I like beans and rice. It was still grim, but that cheap, 2 hour lockout DSL kept me saner than I would have been otherwise.

One thing the Biden administration has been working on is affordable internet access in rural areas, so I suppose your provider is putting the screw to everybody because they know the gravy train will soon derail. They're shooting themselves in the foot since I doubt you're the only subscriber they'll lose. Stupid greedy bastards.
