Because my best friend(girl) asked me to.
I couldn't stand the main two characters.

Guy is a controlling creep through and through. Only works for him because he is rich and looks kinda decent.

Girl is an idiot "Inner Goddess" invoking dumby.

The whole series is pretty tame, they act like they are in high school.
Still, it fits with the fantasy of being a "self made" man who got his wealth through his own work and intelligence, when the guy's work ethic(is predominantly stuck in stalking), mostly actually through contacts from someone who is already rich(who he slept with), and supposedly based on feeding the hungry.

All of it is a simplified fantasy.

Any how, if you want something really crazy, go for the Ann Rice writing as another name, those things are far worse.
