(1,430 posts)10. EBAY is why collectibles are not worth much
An auctioneer told me this. Before EBAY, any given thing was scarce in a given locality. My husband and his sister fought over a specific Dalton their mother cherished that was so rare. Now, there are about 15 listed on EBAY. Last I looked, many were listed in the $300 range, but the only on that sold, sold for about $7. After my husband died in 2016, I sold his old vinyl record collection for a pretty good price. Just a year later, record companies started producing new vinyl of old records with much better quality. I probably lucked out. Same with baseball cards after about 1970. Just know theyre worthless. So just declutter and dont leave that burden to your kids.
