My father was also my hero. He died 24 years ago from lung cancer due to smoking cigarettes, a habit he picked up during the war. All of my uncles were in uniform too. One was with the Army Air Corps on Tinian and was there when the Enola Gay took off to help end that nightmare. We boomers were so privileged to have grown up surrounded by so many heroes. We didnt need comic book superheroes. Did your dad by chance ever have any encounters with Chesty Puller?
