1. Peanut allergies have been around for years -

a friend who was born in 1949 is deathly allergic to them, still gets horrible asthma attacks from accidentally eating just a small amount - but I don't remember it being an issue or a concern in school when I was a kid. Maybe the allergy has become more common in recent years for some reason.
