(6,012 posts)10. We have a Wedgewood gas stove
bought by DH's grandfather in 1938, for the house we live in, which he built in 1917. No electricity needed to light, but the pilot lights make the kitchen warmer, and waste gas. I always leave the kitchen window open at the top when the evening/nights cool down so the refrigerator doesn't work harder.
Every night the last thing I do before I go to bed is check the stove/oven knobs to make sure they're all on "off".
The house I grew up in had an electric stove; I preferred gas stoves after the first time using one!

OP
Gas, w/ electric start. I use the range but not the oven in power outages.

We have electric, but I would 100% prefer a gas stove, for all the reasons above (plus "instant on")

Gas cooktop. Built the house 2011 to replace the one that burned down. It had gas cooktop, too.

Gas is supplied as a utility where I live. It would likely be shut off in a major earthquake.
