One exception I experienced was a going away dinner for one of the guys in our shop. He and his wife brought the 4-year old daughter. The little girl was well behaved, a couple of the guys would make faces at her and she'd mimic their face causing everyone to laugh. No one complained about this little girl being there because she was a little charmer.
