Hello Skinner, I never knew you but I appreciate every day the discussions, information, and community you created at DU. I have been an avid lurker since the mid-2000’s and a very occasional commenter more recently. Your dream became a reality and a godsend to thousands as we navigate this crazy world trying to find some kindness, common sense, and activism.

It was very interesting to read your post…I am mid-50’s, with adult-diagnosed ADHD, inattentive type, a teenage son. I am an engineer, 20 yrs at ibm, grew up in Alaska, now in Vermont. What a trip to realize there WAS actually something different about your brain after all these years? And you don’t have to beat yourself up (as much) about the tardiness, daydreams, lack of follow-through, feeling different about goals/priorities/motivatiion this morning from the night before, getting to bed on time, procrastinating, etc. Check out the farmer brain / hunter’s brain theory if you haven’t…Thom Hartman wrote a book in 2023 about it.
