gather. Share info, get new info, get support in vaious wsys, learn & share different things w so many different sub-forums, and have fun, too.

I actually found you several months in on the then 24hr/7 day Net Cafe. But w/o consistent computer access I didn't stay.
Then 6 yrs ago I was disappointed in another (music) site's political sub-forum. So where could I go?
Amazingly.....
DU's name practically 18+ yrs later easily popped up in my brain!
Lurked a little bit, then jumped in.

Sounds like things have gone mostly well for you.
I was a semi-professional illustrator for a while. Graphic Designer at times which is where much of my illoing went along with .
So yay for working on doing a children's book!

Trickier stuff....
1) May cancer never darken your doorstep again!!!
2) Good luck in landing a good new job!
