I actually had another perfect album for this first Tuesday of 2012 but then a song kept crossing my mind over and over and over again as I read the headlines coming out of Iowa's Caucus and that was The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again".
Today Iowans are caucusing to pick which of these GOP idiots they want to represent them in the 2012 general election against Barack Obama. Now I'm not one to say that Obama has been everything we've dreamed up for a democratic president but hell compared to that lot of GOP candidates - Obama is an amazing candidates.
I think we can all remember the 8 years of George Bush and especially the 6 years when the GOP not only had the White House with Bush but controlled the senate & house too. Do we really want that again? Seriously? I mean yeah the country under Obama is a mess but geez, how they hell do you think we got there in the first place other than 6 years of very out-of-controlled spending by the GOP.
So the Album of the Day will be The Who's "Who's Next" which contains probably 2 of my favorite Who songs of all time - "Won't get Fooled Again" along with "Baba O'Reilly" better known as Teenage Wasteland. I still remember the first time I heard "Baba O'Reilly" on the radio. I wasn't quite a teenager yet, probably around 12 years of age and I heard this amazing keyboard opening that first seemed like the same notes repeated then started to syncopate into various versions of the same notes. An almost quiet opening for about a minute until Keith Moon just rocks the shit out of it with his drums (still he is the 3rd best drummer of all time behind Neal Peart and John Bonham).
This album is listed as #28 of the best all-time albums according the Rolling Stone's Magazine. So please tune up your CD players, pull out the vinyl and crank the volume to #11 and blast "Who's Next" today.
Oh and for those GOP candidates trying to win the hearts and minds of Iowans and Americans everywhere:

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
Change it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fall that's all
But the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!
I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
For I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?
There's nothing in the street
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now the parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss
