Just got my first taste of FB: I think I'll pass [View all]

Was visiting my mother over the weekend, and she was more or less showing it off to me as she browsed on her laptop, went through her and friends albums and comments and so forth. I've always been something of a hold-out regarding trends/fads, and all my old friends and relatives are constantly bugging me to take the plunge and get on it. I wanted to see what it's all about. Well..... Too much drama, too "high maintenance" for my tastes.

Seemed like a message board forum where everyone keeps track of everyone else's postings and spreads comments in triplicate. Too many invites to be "friends" when you just want to read and look without becoming some part of an every widening circle of sociality. Just not wanting to be a "friend" seems like an insult: Indeed it seems that you don't respond or chime in fast enough to whatever someone said or posted, it seems like a snub. Though I'm not that way in real life, If I was on FB I'd be quickly regarded as an aloof snob, I think.

That is all: Just wanted to rant my impressions.
