26. You can use the self-cleaning oven to get the old seasoning off, but not to season.

This blog post recommends flaxseed oil, which is basically food grade linseed oil. It is a drying oil and will polymerize much better, but it is a long process: http://sherylcanter.com/wordpress/2010/01/a-science-based-technique-for-seasoning-cast-iron/
