I'd try to track him to his "home" an attempt to give a pointed but compassionate talk to his humans about letting him outside AT ALL

(Is there *anything worse on DU3 than having to manually type out html coding? That is why I'd rather YELL!)

I'd also inform them about diet, about outdoor parasites or ones caught from other stray cats,
and about the dangers and injuries from other outside cats, not to mention dogs, raccoons, etc.

But mostly his health and the what? Ten years, latest stat I believe, off his life.

And if they don't like it there's a good chance I'd abscond with him and find him a REAL, CARING HOME.
At least try to. I have friends now in PA who home more than 40 strays in their home (and no the neighbors don't know a thing). There are huge and growing rescue societies combining resources including trapping, bringing to a $20- dollar clinic for neutering (these are the 'ear-tipped' cats you'll sometimes see).
I brought 14 rescued cats, abandoned or kittens tamed from feral by myself once to a clinic but after the surgeries and the motel stay I unfortunately declined to have the extra $20- purr to NOT have the ear tipped.
A few of the homes I found them didn't care or liked the tipping (good conversation maker? Bragging rights? --doesn't matter, they got homes) but more often than not it was a deal breaker. So I suggest if you don't plan on re releasing them pay to NOT have the ears tipped.

Hope this wasn't TL : DR. It's all for the lost, lonely, sick, injured and unloved after all.

P.S. Just moved to Webster, NY and although in chronic pain right now I'll still try to help in whatever way I can
--although someone will have to teach me Facebook since I never got I to that.
Just email me if you need a hand.
